The Terra Cotta Warriors

F-3 took had another adventure in DC. For those who don't know my family's tradition, let me share. For at least the last decade we have had Forced Family Fun days, affectionately known as F-3 (read F-cubed). F-3 outings have included bowling, the Hon Cafe, a visit to the movies, and museums to name a few. Our two biggest F-3 dates are Black Friday (after Thanksgiving), and the day after Christmas. While we say Forced Family Fun, it is really anything but forced. We definitely always have a superb time with each other and enjoy each others' company.
This year we payed a visit to the National Geographic to see the new exhibit on the Terra Cotta Warriors. Jon was lucky enough to see the many, many warriors when he was in China a few years ago. For the rest of us, it was our first time to see anything of this magnitude. It was awesome.
To share a little bit about the warriors and what they're about, I borrowed text from the National Geographic press release about the exhibit:
It has a been a terrific Thanksgiving--not just for our day F-3 day today, but for the entire weekend. It was great to spend time with family, not doing much of anything, and just being thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving!

These warriors represent one of the greatest archaeological treasures in the world today. The exhibit will feature Emperor Qin Shi Huang, China's first emperor; his tomb and surrounding sites; the discovery of the site by well diggers in 1974 and many exciting new finds, as well as the largest collection of the famed figures to ever leave China. We followed up our afternoon in the museum with a dinner at Matchbox in Chinatown. Yum! Yum! And what night would be complete without a cupcake? So, we headed to the Red Velvet Cupcakery in at 7th and E Streets, NW for a little taste of bliss.
The exhibition of 120 sets of objects will include 20 complete life-sized terra cotta figures and will feature new discoveries of court officials, acrobats and generals.
