The Terra Cotta Warriors

This year we payed a visit to the National Geographic to see the new exhibit on the Terra Cotta Warriors. Jon was lucky enough to see the many, many warriors when he was in China a few years ago. For the rest of us, it was our first time to see anything of this magnitude. It was awesome.
To share a little bit about the warriors and what they're about, I borrowed text from the National Geographic press release about the exhibit:
These warriors represent one of the greatest archaeological treasures in the world today. The exhibit will feature Emperor Qin Shi Huang, China's first emperor; his tomb and surrounding sites; the discovery of the site by well diggers in 1974 and many exciting new finds, as well as the largest collection of the famed figures to ever leave China. We followed up our afternoon in the museum with a dinner at Matchbox in Chinatown. Yum! Yum! And what night would be complete without a cupcake? So, we headed to the Red Velvet Cupcakery in at 7th and E Streets, NW for a little taste of bliss.
The exhibition of 120 sets of objects will include 20 complete life-sized terra cotta figures and will feature new discoveries of court officials, acrobats and generals.
It has a been a terrific Thanksgiving--not just for our day F-3 day today, but for the entire weekend. It was great to spend time with family, not doing much of anything, and just being thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving!
